Small Changes, Big Confidence

A chipped front tooth or a stubborn gap can change how often you smile. Dental bonding and porcelain veneers fix these concerns with results that look like your own teeth. We'll help you choose the option that keeps the most of your natural tooth.

The Gentlest Fix Comes First

Dr. Manor's approach is simple: treat what needs treating and protect what doesn't. Your dentist starts with the least invasive option that meets your goal, so more of your natural tooth stays in place for years to come. If bonding gives you the look you want, that's what we'll recommend, and if Invisalign would solve a concern better, you'll hear that too.

See Your Veneer Plan First

Porcelain veneers start with a quick digital scan that captures your teeth and bite in fine detail. Your dentist designs each veneer from that 3D model to suit the size and shape of your smile. You can look at the model with us and ask every question you have before treatment starts, so you move forward feeling confident.

Results That Look Natural

Both bonding and veneers are colour matched to the teeth around them. Bonding resin is sculpted and polished right on your tooth, while porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel and holds up well against stains. Each restoration is shaped to suit your face, your bite, and your neighbouring teeth, so the result looks like you.

Bonding or Veneers?

Both treatments improve how your front teeth look. The right choice depends on how big a change you want, how long you'd like it to last, and how much natural tooth you want to keep.

  • Dental bonding is tooth-coloured resin applied directly to the tooth. Little or no enamel is removed, and treatment is usually finished in one visit. It works well for small chips, minor gaps, and uneven edges.
  • Porcelain veneers are thin, custom shells bonded to the front of the teeth. A thin layer of enamel is usually removed so they sit naturally, which makes veneers a permanent choice. They suit bigger changes to shape, colour, or size across several teeth.
  • Durability is different for each. Porcelain keeps its colour and finish for many years with good care. Bonding can pick up stains over time and may need polishing or a small repair, which is quick to do.
  • Cost is generally lower for bonding. Your dentist will review the fees for each option before anything is booked.

Whitening? Plan It First

Bonding and porcelain are matched to your tooth shade on the day they're placed, and whitening won't change their colour afterward.

  • Whitening first lets us match your new restorations to your lighter shade
  • Planning the order matters most when bonding or veneers cover only a few teeth in your smile
  • We'll talk through timing at your consultation so everything looks even when you're done

Signs Bonding or Veneers Could Help

Cosmetic care is a good fit for healthy teeth with concerns that bother you when you smile, talk, or see yourself in photos. Patients often ask about it for:

  • A chipped or cracked edge: Small chips can often be repaired with bonding in a single visit, so the tooth looks whole again.
  • Small gaps between teeth: Bonding can close minor spaces. Larger gaps may call for veneers or Invisalign, depending on your bite.
  • Teeth that look short, worn, or uneven: Adding length or reshaping edges can bring your smile back into balance.
  • Stains that whitening can't lift: Some deep discolouration doesn't respond to bleaching. Bonding or veneers can cover it.
  • Older bonding that has dulled: Worn or stained bonding can be refreshed or replaced to match your teeth again.

If we find a cavity or gum inflammation, we'll treat it first so your cosmetic work sits on a healthy foundation.

What to expect

From Consult to Finished Smile

Step one

Share Your Goals

Your dentist examines your teeth and gums, explains what each option can realistically achieve, and recommends the most conservative choice that meets your goal. Fees are reviewed with you before you book.

Step two

Scan and Plan

For veneers, we take a digital scan to build a 3D model of your teeth. Your dentist uses the model to plan the shape, length, and fit of each veneer. For bonding, we select a resin shade that blends with your natural teeth.

Step three

Settle In Comfortably

Bonding often needs little or no freezing. When freezing is needed, topical numbing gel always goes on first, and we check in with you throughout. If something hurts, we stop.

Step four

Shape, Place, and Polish

Bonding resin is sculpted, hardened with a special light, and polished in the same visit. Veneers are bonded in place once they're ready, and your dentist checks the fit and your bite before you leave.

Step five

Keep Your Results Fresh

Brush, floss, and keep up your regular hygiene visits. If you grind your teeth, your dentist may suggest a custom nightguard to protect your new work. We'll check your bonding or veneers at every checkup along with the rest of your smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does dental bonding hurt?
Most bonding is very comfortable, since little or no enamel is removed. Many patients don't need freezing at all. If you do, topical numbing gel is applied first, and laughing gas is available if you feel nervous.
How long does dental bonding last?
It depends on where the bonding is, how you bite, and habits like nail biting or chewing on pens. Bonding may need polishing, a touch-up, or replacement over time. We check it at every visit so small issues are fixed early.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
With good home care and regular checkups, porcelain veneers can last many years. Grinding, clenching, and biting hard objects can shorten their life. Your dentist will give you a realistic picture based on your bite and habits.
Are porcelain veneers permanent?
Yes. A thin layer of enamel is usually removed so the veneer sits flush, which means that tooth will always need a veneer or similar covering. That's why we talk through the decision carefully and often look at bonding first.
Can I whiten my bonding or veneers later?
Whitening only lightens natural enamel, so bonding and porcelain keep the shade they started with. If you'd like lighter teeth, it's often worth whitening first. We'll then match your restorations to your new shade.
How many visits do veneers take?
Veneers usually take more than one visit: a consultation and digital scan, then a placement appointment once your veneers are ready. Your dentist will confirm the timeline for your case at your consultation.
Will people be able to tell I've had cosmetic work done?
Both bonding and veneers are shade matched and shaped to suit the teeth around them. Most people will simply notice that your smile looks healthy and even. We'll show you the shade and shape plan before treatment.
Can bonding close the gap between my front teeth?
Small gaps often close nicely with bonding. Larger gaps, or gaps caused by how your teeth are positioned, may be better handled with veneers or Invisalign. Your dentist will explain which option fits your bite.
Does insurance cover bonding or veneers?
Coverage varies by plan. Many plans treat purely cosmetic work differently from repairs, such as bonding a chipped tooth. We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide, submit claims for you, and review costs with you before treatment.
Am I a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry?
If your teeth and gums are healthy and something about your smile bothers you, there's a good chance bonding or veneers can help. Any decay or gum concerns are treated first. Book a consultation and we'll give you an honest recommendation.
