We Get to Know You, Not Just Your Teeth

At our LIV office, you see the same team at every visit. Over time, that consistency means we build a genuine understanding of your oral health history, your concerns, and your goals, which makes for more accurate assessments, more relevant recommendations, and care that actually fits your life.

Focused on the Long Game

The most valuable thing preventive dentistry offers is options. A concern identified at a routine visit, while it is still small, gives you more choices, less complex treatment, and a lower overall cost over time. We approach every appointment with that long-term perspective, assessing not just what is happening now but what we want to help you avoid down the road.

You Are Always in the Loop

Informed patients make better decisions about their oral health, and we take that seriously. Before any treatment begins, we explain what we are seeing in plain language, outline what we recommend, and walk you through the cost. There is no pressure, no rush, and no assumption that you will simply go along with what we suggest. Every decision is yours to make with full information in hand.

Dental Care for Kids and Teens

The habits formed in childhood shape oral health well into adulthood, and early dental visits play a meaningful role in establishing them. For younger patients at our LIV office, each visit is designed to be informative, comfortable, and confidence-building:

  • Tracking tooth development and the transition from primary to permanent teeth, with parents kept informed at every step
  • Applying preventive treatments such as fluoride to strengthen developing enamel
  • Assessing bite alignment and flagging any early orthodontic concerns while there is still time to address them proactively
  • Monitoring wisdom tooth development in teenagers and advising on timing before issues arise
  • Providing custom sports mouthguards for young athletes in contact sports, offering protection that store-bought options simply cannot match
  • Creating a consistent, welcoming experience at every visit so dental care never becomes something to dread

Dental Care for Adults

Adult dental care at our LIV office goes beyond routine maintenance. Each visit is an opportunity to assess the full state of your oral health and catch anything that deserves attention before it becomes a larger concern:

  • Comprehensive gum health assessments at every visit, with particular attention to early signs of inflammation or recession
  • A thorough review of any existing restorations, fillings, crowns, or other work to confirm everything is functioning well
  • Personalized home care advice based on what we observe at your visit, not generic recommendations
  • Custom nightguards for patients managing bruxism, designed to protect the teeth and reduce the jaw tension that often accompanies grinding
  • Snore appliances for patients experiencing disrupted sleep due to snoring or mild sleep apnea, fitted and monitored in-house

Dental Care for Seniors

Caring for senior patients well means understanding that oral health in later life comes with its own set of priorities. At our LIV office, we take a thorough and gentle approach that accounts for the full picture:

  • Careful monitoring of gum tissue health, including recession and changes in bone levels over time
  • Assessment of the impact of systemic medications on oral health, particularly dry mouth, which affects cavity risk and comfort
  • Regular evaluation of existing restorations and how well they continue to serve the patient as bite and jaw structure evolve
  • A comprehensive oral cancer screening at every visit, included as a standard part of every thorough assessment
  • Clear conversations about tooth replacement options for patients managing tooth loss, including the long-term benefits of implants and the practical advantages of bridges depending on the situation

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I come in for a cleaning and checkup?
For most patients, twice a year is the standard. Patients with a history of gum disease, a higher cavity risk, or other ongoing concerns may benefit from visits every three to four months. We will give you a clear, personalized recommendation at your first appointment and adjust it as your oral health evolves.
At what age should my child start seeing a dentist?
We recommend bringing school-aged children in as soon as they have a full set of primary teeth. Starting early allows us to monitor tooth development, apply preventive treatments, and make sure young patients feel genuinely comfortable with routine dental care before any more involved treatment is ever needed.
What happens at a routine cleaning appointment?
Your hygienist cleans your teeth thoroughly, removes any tartar buildup along the gum line, and assesses the health of your gum tissue. Your dentist then conducts a thorough exam, reviews any X-rays, and discusses any findings with you. You leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a straightforward plan for what, if anything, comes next.
Why does tartar need to be removed professionally?
Plaque that is not fully removed through brushing and flossing hardens into tartar over time. Tartar cannot be removed at home: it adheres firmly to tooth surfaces and requires professional instruments to clear. Regular professional cleanings prevent tartar from accumulating and keep the gum tissue healthy and free from inflammation.
Do you take X-rays at every visit?
X-rays are taken when they are clinically indicated, which for most patients means once a year. They allow us to see areas between teeth and below the gum line that cannot be assessed with a visual exam alone. If you are coming to us from another practice, we will request a transfer of your existing records so we can work from your complete history from day one.
What is bruxism and how is it treated?
Bruxism is the clinical term for grinding or clenching the teeth, most commonly during sleep. It can cause significant tooth wear, cracking, jaw soreness, and headaches over time. A custom nightguard is the most effective and straightforward way to manage it, creating a protective barrier between the upper and lower teeth and reducing the load on the jaw joint during sleep.
What is the difference between a crown and a filling?
A filling restores a tooth where decay has been removed, while most of the natural tooth structure remains intact. A crown is used when the tooth has been weakened to the point where a filling alone is not sufficient to protect it. The crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth, restoring its full strength and function. We always recommend the most conservative option that meets your clinical needs.
Do you perform root canals in-house?
Yes. Root canal treatment is completed in-house at our LIV office. The procedure cleans out infected or inflamed tissue from inside the tooth, eliminates the source of pain, and seals the tooth so it can continue to function normally. We walk every patient through exactly what to expect before we begin and make sure you are comfortable throughout.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency?
Call us during business hours as soon as possible. We do our best to make time for patients with urgent needs, assess the situation thoroughly, and provide prompt relief. We will also make sure you leave with a clear plan for any follow-up care that is needed.
How do snore appliances differ from other sleep apnea treatments?
Snore appliances are non-invasive, custom-fitted oral devices worn during sleep that gently shift the lower jaw forward to keep the airway open. They are well suited to patients with mild sleep apnea or primary snoring and are often a more comfortable alternative to other treatment approaches. We fit and adjust these appliances in-house and work alongside your medical provider to make sure the treatment is appropriate for your situation.
